Adulthood Doesn’t Guarantee Respect

This month I have excitedly been able to go to California with my best friend we'll call her Z, I honestly thought this vacation would  be full of fun and relaxation but honestly I was wrong.

Now don't get me wrong I do have fun most of the time im here, but, her grandparents aren't the easiest to get along with, granted they are nice and generous for letting me stay with them-they also have tendency to treat me like I'm still a teenager, and that's got me thinking, when do people stop treating us like we are still the mischievous teenagers we once were?

Im freshly 23, but since I've hit 21 I've come to realize your older family members and the people around you will still treat you how they used too, there's no new respect added now that you are in your 20's, just more responsibilities added on.

At what age do they start seeing us as equals? What do we have to do for them to realize we are adults now, with adult responsibilities, and just want to be treated as such? Ill never know till I'm older I guess.
